Velkommen til Norge

And welcome to the homepage of the Master Student Session at STAF 2020. This session is a one-day event to be held on Wednesday, June 24th 2020 in Bergen, Norway.

We herewith invite interested students of a master degree programme in computer science to present the contents, goals and achievements of their master thesis. The thesis should investigate foundations, techniques, tools, or applications in software technology. Students should consider participating in this session if they recently finished or are just about to finish their master thesis.

The goals of this session are to:

  • offer the participants an opportunity to present their work in an international platform,
  • provide the participants independent and constructive feedback on the significance of their work and discuss future research directions,
  • develop a supportive community of scholars and a spirit of collaborative work, and
  • provide an opportunity for student participants to interact with established researchers and practitioners in the software engineering community.

Submissions

Each student’s submission must be a 3-page pdf-paper, in Easychair format (see https://easychair.org/publications/for_authors), summarizing the contents of the student’s thesis, especially the problem to be solved, the contribution, and, if applicable, the evaluation of the results. Submissions can be made via Easychair.

Review Process and Attendance

Submissions will be reviewed by members of the Master Session Committee. Participants will be selected on the basis of their anticipated contribution to the session goals as well as the potential benefit to the participants. Authors of submissions selected for presentation will have the opportunity to present their work during the Master Student Session in a 30-minute talk. Selected participants will receive feedback both from a panel of experts and from other participants.
